INGREDIENT PROVENANCE IS PARAMOUNT

They say that mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery and yet in truth there’s something a little grubby and disingenuous about me-too brands that jumps on the coat tails of another or cuts corners to secure a quick and unseemly kick-start.

Undoubtedly our Himalayan cheese treats are some of the best dog treats in circulation, building a significant loyalist reputation around the globe. As with any successful product, copycat imitations are an inevitable by-product of success. However, authentic Himalayan cheese treats are not made from skimmed dairy milk OR dried in artificial chambers, but are instead made using cows/ yak’s milk born in the idyllic panoramic vistas of the Himalayas. Such a clean, pristine landscape, comprising of fresh, unpolluted air and chemical-free pastures, provides the perfect at-one-with-nature setting for happy, ‘antibiotic/synthetic hormone free’ herds to happily meander, whilst the resulting unrushed cheese is free to dry slowly over 28 days, without any fear whatsoever of infection or contamination.

We at Pawfect Foods are committed to and work tirelessly to marry the very finest Chhurpi cheese making traditions with a growing demand for healthier living, clean-deck treats. Putting to one side the not insignificant time and resources that our young business has put into manufacturing a new dog treat in its ancestral home: dealing with region’s torrid mountain weather conditions, archaic transportation, investing in a local manufacturing plant, conversing in countless ancient dialects; it was always our intention to invest in a region where there are limited employment opportunities whilst paying tribute to unrushed chhurpi (cheese treats)practices .

Undoubtedly there will have been some razor sharp minds within finance who would have questioned whether we really needed to be manufacturing at 15,000+ft with all the extra complications that undoubtedly entails, however our vision was never to create a cheesy chhurpi bar, our vision was to create the very best cheesy chhurpi bar that would satisfy even the most finicky poodle.

So some Europe based operations may well suggest throw around loose phrases like ‘inspired by the Himalayas’ whilst using everyday dairy milk and whizzy time-saving, conveyor belt tech but why use such ‘loose’ terminology when one’s links to the mountainous regions are so tenuous unless the goal is to mislead or foggy the waters. A Ferrari is not a Ferrari if it’s made in a Skoda factory in much the same way Belgian inspired chocolate is anything but Belgian if it’s made along a shiny, high-tech conveyor belt in Milton Keynes

We’re certainly not decrying the creation of a ‘sincere,’ me-too Chhurpi dog treat bar if it plays its role in improving the current, nutritionally-vacant dog treat landscape; after all mimicking is the sincerest form of flattery. Where we do have an issue is with lazy, deliberately ‘foggy’ labelling. What really incences us is cynical marketing spin being weaved by some manufacturers which falsely claims that a chunk of the resulting sales revenue goes to the underprivileged children in Nepal/ Himalayas. The simple truth is that such dubious actions are actually depriving the parents of these very same children with the vital livelihood/employment opportunities they crave.

Pawfect Foods prides itself on its ingredient integrity and watertight provenance which are lynchpins of its flagship ‘real’ Himalayan Cheese Treats. Contrary to the claims by some inadequately informed new entrants in the business not all Himalayan treats are produced in unhygienic worn out sheds. At Pawfect Foods, we are rightfully proud of our production facility, the only BRC/ISO-22000 & HACCP compliant operation producing the cheese treats for dogs. Balancing the traditional, time honoured practices with the demand of health-conscious pet parents looking for all-natural chews made the original way sets us apart from all other players looking for convenient shortcuts’ to reduce costs, speed up production timeline .

In conclusion we’ve absolutely no issue with ‘friendly competition’ or even ‘chhurpi style’ products being made in the European lowlands, in vast industrial batches using only European cow’s milk – but just be honest because no-one likes being misled by disingenuous claims, because in today’s increasingly ‘open book’ society, ingredients integrity & provenance is king!
